Valero Credit Card / DSRM / Card review

A Valero Credit Card is owned and operated by Valero Energy, who operates from a base in Texas, in the US. The company is well known as a gas station giant in the US, with a large number of stations across the country. The card is issued through its side-company, Diamond Shamrock Refining and Marketing, sometimes known as DSRM. The development and issuing of the Valero credit card is seen by some as a way for Valero to move from the discount brand range into that of a premium.
Applying for a Valero Credit Card
It is possible to find application forms for the card at most Valero gas stations. If you want to fill in an application form online, then Valero's website also has an Apply Now form which you can fill in. You must be over the age of 21, and have a suitable credit rating, before Valero will allow you to have their credit card.
How Can I Use the Card?
The Valero card is designed to be used when taking out gas from the Valero station. You take the card into the pump station, and pay for the amount of fuel that you will use. The attendant then opens the pump, and you fill the car with fuel. You will then be able to pay back the cost of the fuel when your monthly statement arrives.
How Much Can I Expect to Pay?
You can expect to pay around an extra 10 cents a gallon when using a Valero card, and this is cheaper than most other credit cards available. You will also get a 23 percent APR, which is slightly higher than the industry standard, but is covered by the fact that you will only be using the Valero credit card to purchase fuel. You should also expect to pay off more than the average each month, as the card works rather like a charge card.
